“…and recite the Quran in slow, measured, rhythmic tones.”
This reminds me of the Quran-reading groups in Pakistan, wherein someone would arrange for an entire Quran to be read in a few hours, and invite people from the neighborhood to read. So people would come and read as if there’s a competition about who read the most surahs.
Nadia, this (amongst many other things) is one of the main reasons I thought about making this site. I have been thinking about it for a while – many of us (myself included, especially in Ramadan) read Quran as a race, as a chore, without delving deeper into it.

Unfortunately at this point I don’t have the skills required to do an Arabic version of this site. I don’t have the typing ability nor the linguistic know-how needed to create an Arabic version – while I can read and understand and speak Arabic, typing is another ! 😀 However if you know someone who can type fast in Arabic and can copy accurately, then you can ask that person to get in touch with me – it would be great to have an Arabic version of the site up too, with actual verses of the Quran as they were revealed.

Mashallah as creative and innovtaive your idea is Mashallah I would like to bring your attention to something very imporatant, in the depiction of Surah Muzzammil.
To show a person in the explanation of these ayas would be incorrect as the first few ayahs are actually the 2nd wahi that came to our dear Prophet Muhammad (SAW). In these ayahs Allah is speaking directly to him when saying “O you (Muhammad [pbuh]) enveloped (in garments)! Arise and warn! And
your Lord (All? ) magnify! And your garments purify! And keep away from
Ar- Rujz (the idols). And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider
not your deeds of All? ’s obedience as a favour to All? ). And be patient for
the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to All? )!” [Al-Qur’an 74:1- 7]

The depiction of this surah is the only thing that has held me back from showing it to my kids.
Please keep up the good work, but do thourough homework on backgrounds of ayahs before putting efforts into the depiction of them Inshallah! May Allah reward you for your niyyah and the service to His people Ameen
Thank you for your comments. I have to politely disagree that the depiction is incorrect.
The verses are addressed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) however that does not mean (in my opinion) that they are not applicable to all Muslims. Many verses in the Quran are addressed to Muhammad (peace be upon him) but the instructions are for everyone. A very common example is Surah Kahf, verse 23-24, when Allah while addressing the Prophet on the questions brought by Uqbah and Nadr, tells him, “And say not of anything, ‘surely I shall do that tomorrow’ without adding ‘if Allah wills’.”
Now most of us will agree that this is pertaining to all Muslims, who have to say “inshAllah” for any future actions planned, not just the Prophet Muhammad (peace by upon him).
Similarly, when Allah is talking in Surah Muzzammil about praying in the night, reciting the Quran slowly and with melody, He just does not mean the Prophet has to do these things only, it’s an instruction to every Muslim, in my opinion.
I would like to add here that I do read at last two tafseers (one is usually Ibn Kathir) for each surah before I start any depiction. For example, it would be impossible to depict many surahs without knowing their background, such as Surah Mumtahina.
Thank you for your criticism and please do keep visiting. As parent, you of course have the right to choose what your children will and will not see, and I do not expect everyone to have the same opinion as me!

I just needed to make sure of opinion before sharing your work with my kids.
Your reply did finally convince me to share it with them who are big Lego fans, they enact Salahuddin Ayyubi and the Crusades with their sets among many other things.
As I had thought your blog became an instant hit with them, they even re-did some of the depictions trying to match yours. I would like permission to share your website on my blog. Also, would it be okay with you if I put up pictures of what my kids make with Lego for same or different Ayahs.

I agree with the above comments. The Surahs I can remember most vividly are the ones that were taught to me slowly, and with lots of detail.
But I think this is the first time I’ve come across Lego as a teaching reference for the Qur’an! mA, awesome stuff.
