Yes, it’s a very interesting fact – “Fire of Allah”. I was reading some tafsirs as to what it meant. And in many places of the Quran it is said “give charity” or “give to the poor”. Never is it said wealth is bad or haram, but the love of wealth ruling one’s heart over anything else is. Something to think about! 🙂
This surah is actually warning of three sins – backbiting, deriding and selfish hoarding of wealth. The hoarding has to be combined with other surahs that tell about not wanting to spend in charity, give to Allah’s causes or feed the hungry etc.
Farah, correct. Some have interpreted the “leaps over the hearts” as in the person will be “completely burnt yet alive (and can feel the torture in his heart)”. It’s an indication of the torment of hell (and Allah knows best) indicating the severity of the sins.
